(22 September 2025) With Super Typhoon Ragasa approaching Hong Kong, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) has activated its emergency response plan to ensure the continued provision of safe, stable and reliable gas services to residents across the territory during extreme weather conditions.
Throughout the typhoon period, Towngas will deploy additional staff to remain on duty and standby at the Tai Po Gas Production Plant to respond to any emergencies. The Company has completed comprehensive inspections of all plant facilities and backup equipment, and has installed flood gates and water pumps at locations identified as high flood risk. Prior to the storm’s arrival, Towngas issued internal guidelines requiring all construction sites, plants and warehouses to secure scaffolding, hoardings and other temporary structures to safeguard the public and staff.
The Towngas Customer Service Hotline will continue to provide emergency and repair services. Customers who suspect a gas leak should call the 24-hour Emergency Hotline on 2880 6999. Towngas will closely monitor the typhoon’s progress to ensure gas production and distribution facilities maintain efficient and stable operations throughout the extreme weather event.
