Founded in 1862, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) is Hong Kong’s first public utility enterprise. Today, we are one of the largest energy suppliers in Hong Kong, operating with world-class corporate management and leading-edge business practices.
Over the years, Towngas has grown with Hong Kong, evolving from a gas company supplying fuel for street lamps to a leader in the energy industry in Greater China and beyond. We now provide safe, reliable energy solutions to homes and businesses across all sectors of society.
Towngas made its foray into the Chinese mainland in 1994. Currently, we have more than 1,100 projects, including renewable energy solutions (such as solar photovoltaics), piped city-gas projects, gas supply chain, water supply and urban waste utilisation projects, as well as new energy exploration and utilisation ventures, across 29 provincial regions.
In recent years, Towngas has put tremendous effort in developing clean energy solutions for sea, land and air to achieve the vision of carbon neutrality. These include hydrogen energy, green methanol for vessels as well as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
