(18 September 2025) Dr Lee Ka-kit, Chairman of The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), led a delegation to meet with Mr Wang Hongzhi, Administrator of the National Energy Administration. The two parties engaged in comprehensive discussions on how Towngas can better integrate into the national energy development framework through developing new quality productive forces, including advancing energy transition, technological innovation and green development.

On the afternoon of 15 September, Dr Lee Ka-kit, Chairman of Towngas, accompanied by Mr Alan Chan Ying-lung, Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of Towngas and Co-Chairman of EcoCeres, Ms Gu Jing, Senior Vice President and Chief Representative – Beijing Office of Towngas, and other senior management representatives, visited the National Energy Administration to meet with Mr Wang Hongzhi and key officials from the Department of Science and Technology, Department of New and Renewable Energy, and Department of International Cooperation. Dr Lee expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr Wang for taking time from his busy schedule to meet with them and for the valuable guidance and strong support provided to Towngas’s energy business. Mr Alan Chan Ying-lung subsequently presented the latest developments, achievements and development plans of Towngas’s mainland operations, while seeking guidance on supporting the national dual carbon strategy and energy transition.

Mr Wang welcomed Dr Lee and his delegation, commending Towngas’s achievements in energy technology innovation and green, low-carbon development. He stated that the National Energy Administration will actively implement the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, the Greater Bay Area development plan and related policies, supporting Towngas’s exploration and business development in advancing new quality productive forces in the energy sector. He noted that Towngas’s development plans align well with national energy development concepts, and both parties will strengthen communication and collaboration going forward to jointly contribute to the green energy transition in Hong Kong and the mainland.

As Hong Kong’s longest-standing and largest integrated energy enterprise, Towngas will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the National Energy Administration, capitalising on the unique advantages as a Hong Kong enterprise to contribute to the country’s achievement of its dual carbon goals.
