Nature and Biodiversity

The Group recognises that its operations may potentially disturb ecosystem and wildlife habitats. We are committed to reducing our impact on nature and biodiversity and promoting conservation efforts as stated in our Environmental Policy. To effectively manage related risks, we will, where applicable, conduct biodiversity assessments to identify priority areas and establish relevant targets based on the level of risk and impact. We continue to enhance our planning and management approaches, progressing toward the goals of no net loss and ultimately a net positive impact on biodiversity. We are also committed to promoting biodiversity conservation across our value chain. By engaging contractors, suppliers, and business partners, we collaboratively reduce potential impacts on the natural environment and ecosystems.

In order to mitigate our impacts on nature and biodiversity, we follow four principles:

Avoid Ecologically Sensitive Locations

We avoid areas with high biodiversity value and ecologically sensitive locations in the planning stage of our projects. We carry out a site-specific Environmental Impact Assessment, in accordance with local regulatory requirements, to address the impacts of development on wildlife and ecosystems.

Mitigate our Impacts through Innovation

We take preventive and mitigation measures to minimise the possible impacts of our works, including construction work, effluent discharge, and pipeline maintenance, on habitats and species of flora and fauna. Through technological innovation and the optimisation of operational practices, we strive to reduce potential impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems wherever possible.

Use Mitigation and Offset Measures during Construction

We implement a variety of mitigation and offset measures for our construction activities, which help to reduce pollution, soil erosion and ecological damage. We also coordinate with local government bodies to preserve the native vegetation around project sites and operating facilities.

Promote Nature and Biodiversity Awareness

We raise biodiversity awareness among employees, customers and the public through a variety of activities, such as supporting National Ecology Day, arranging organic farm visits and ecological tours.
