Towngas supports HYAB Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas for the 6th consecutive year, empowering youth to broaden horizons and equip themselves for future careers

(26 June 2026) The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) continues to actively participate in the HYAB Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas 2026, with the kick-off ceremony held today at the Central Government Offices. Over the next eight weeks, 12 students from various disciplines and universities will be assigned by the Company to Shenzhen, Suzhou, and Changzhou to participate in daily business operations, project support, and innovative practices. By gaining learning experience and broadening their horizons, they will equip themselves in advance for their future career development to seize opportunities brought by national development.

This year, the internship positions provided by Towngas cover multiple core business areas, including city-gas engineering, renewable energy, business development, marketing, corporate management, and safety and risk monitoring. The Company will also subsidise major expenses such as transportation and accommodation, and provide professional mentors, workplace training courses, and safety knowledge seminars to ensure interns receive comprehensive support.

Leung Lik-hang, who is currently studying for a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, is full of expectations for his upcoming internship in Shenzhen. He stated, “Nowadays, an increasing amount of work in the legal field is related to new energy. The internship position I am taking up will give me the exact opportunity to gain exposure to both the new energy industry and the mainland’s legal system at the same time.” Meanwhile, Jiao Qiyue, a student from the mainland who completed her Master’s degree in Applied Economics at City University of Hong Kong, is full of confidence in her future career development. She believes, “Towngas is an internationally advanced energy enterprise with high-level operational and management experience. Therefore, I believe what I observe and learn during my internship here will serve as an excellent starting point for my future career development.”

Mr Fong Kai-shing, General Manager – Group Training & Development of Towngas and Principal of Towngas Training Institute, stated that since participating in the Scheme, Towngas has cumulatively provided an internship platform for over 60 students, allowing them the opportunity to apply what they have learnt and unleash their potential. He also expects that through the internship, students will, on the one hand, develop new skills adaptable to their future career development, and on the other hand, bring new creativity and innovative thinking to the Company, driving its innovation culture.

Moving forward, Towngas will continue to invest resources to actively nurture youth talent, providing students with workplace experiences and broadening their horizons by participating in or organising various programmes.
