(7 October 2026) The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) is pleased to announce that it has stood out at the 2026 Hong Kong ESG Awards, the fourth edition organised by The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), and has been awarded the highest accolade, the Hong Kong ESG Grand Award. This recognition reflects the widespread acknowledgement of Towngas’ sustainability performance.
In recent years, the Group has been actively developing its green energy business, advancing green methanol, hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for sea, land and air transport to accelerate its green transformation. Towngas has also been actively collaborating with various stakeholders to jointly drive the green, low-carbon transition. These efforts include launching the Towngas Hydrogen City Design Competition for primary school students, continuing to work with a green group on the Plantation Enrichment Programme, and building a green supply chain together with suppliers.
Mr. Edmund Yeung Lui-ming, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Towngas, expressed gratitude for the award. He stated: “We continue to refine our ESG governance framework and actively integrate ESG principles into our strategy and day-to-day operations, ensuring that our ESG strategy and business development move forward together. At the same time, we value communication with our stakeholders, gathering feedback through diverse channels and turning it into a driving force for continuous improvement. Winning this Grand Award not only reflects the outstanding results of our ongoing efforts in developing clean, low-carbon energy and advancing our decarbonisation pathway, but also recognises the Group’s long-standing commitment to sustainable development.”
The Hong Kong ESG Awards, presented by The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, recognise Hong Kong companies that have demonstrated excellence in enhancing their ESG performance and achieved outstanding results. The awards further seek to inspire all sectors and industries to embrace the principles of sustainable development, operate their businesses responsibly, and create long-term value for the economy, society and the ecological environment.
Looking ahead, Towngas will continue to deepen its presence in green energy and work closely with various stakeholders in response to the country’s “dual carbon” goals and the “15th Five-Year Plan”.
