The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) has long been committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility and supporting community education. With the rise of new energy applications in Hong Kong and the growing emphasis on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education in schools, Towngas launched the Towngas Green Flame Energy Scientist Programme in 2023. This initiative aims to enhance the next generation’s understanding of new energies and environmental protection.
The Programme is designed to equip students with essential knowledge of new energies and sustainability, unleash their potential in STEAM, and encourage them to embrace a green lifestyle. Centring around five pillars, namely school talks, complimentary teaching kits, appointment of Green Flame Campus Ambassadors, corporate visits, and school sponsorships, the Programme offers students a wide range of engaging learning experiences.
The Programme is completely free of charge and supported by the Business-School Partnership Programme of the Education Bureau and the GreenLink of the Environment and Ecology Bureau.
We cordially invite primary schools across Hong Kong to take part and join Towngas in nurturing the city’s future green science talent.
Towngas has established a dedicated Green Flame Education Team, comprising staff members with professional engineering or ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) backgrounds. Equipped with specialised training, team members visit schools across Hong Kong to deliver engagingeducational talks. Through interactive sessions, they spark students’ interest in energy science and introduce relevant topics in a clear and accessible manner, helping students build a solid understanding of energy and sustainability.
Duration: Approximately 1 hour per session, subject to school arrangements*
Target Audience: Designed primarily for upper primary students, with content tailored for lower primary participants based on their age and learning needs.
Application Period: Open throughout the year.
* The date and topics of the school talk can be flexibly arranged in consultation with individual schools.
A member of Green Flame Education Team hosts a talk on campus.
Our school talks introduce topics including future energy, climate change, innovation and technology to students.
Schools can arrange students across multiple levels to join the talks. To make learning fun, participating schools will receive complimentary teaching kits developed by Towngas. Aligned with the Primary Science curriculum and designed with clear learning objectives, these resources are built to spark students’ interest in energy and environmental science:
● “Energypedia” Learning Cards: Covering five pillars, namely energy history, smart energy news, trivia, expert interviews and ESG 101, the cards enable students to learn about energy and environmental protection in an engaging and accessible way.
● “Energy Warrior” Board Game: An interactive game that teaches students about the feedstocks and applications of town gas, while exploring the development of future energy and eco-living styles.

The content of the “Energypedia” Learning Cards cover energy history, smart energy news, trivia, expert interviews and ESG 101.

The “Energy Warrior” Board Game allows students to learn about the production and applications of town gas.
A greener future begins with the next generation. To promote sustainable development, Towngas encourages schools to bring students together to support environmental initiatives on campus. Each school may nominate up to five upper primary students who are interested in environmental protection or energy engineering to serve as Green Flame Campus Ambassadors. These ambassadors will spearhead eco-initiatives to raise environmental awareness within their schools, and will receive an official certificate of appointment from Towngas.
