Towngas has always attached great importance to corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. Recently, the Company was awarded the Junzi Corporation Exemplary Award by the Hang Seng University (HSU), the highest honour of the Junzi Corporation Award, for the third consecutive year. This award reaffirms our outstanding performance in enhancing corporate ethics and giving back to the community.
Since 2011, the HSU has been presenting the Junzi Corporation Award every year, with an aim to recognise enterprises that have demonstrated the “Junzi” ethics of Confucianism and the five virtues of Benevolence, Rightness, Propriety, Wisdom and Trustworthiness. This year, three companies, including Towngas, were awarded the Junzi Corporation Exemplary Award in recognition of their efforts to promote the spirit of doing business in a Junzi way over the years.
Towngas has been practising the five virtues through its business and community services. For example, in terms of “Benevolence”, the Company launched the “Credit Period Extension Scheme for the Catering Industry” during the fifth wave of the COVID-19 epidemic to help the industry to alleviate their pressing needs. The Company also allocated funds to purchase anti-epidemic supplies to support disadvantaged groups such as grassroots families. On the “Wisdom” side, Towngas actively promoted innovation, including developing a new generation of the Towngas smart metering system and the free installation of the system for eligible visually impaired and wheelchair users referred by social welfare organisations to facilitate accessible meter reporting.
