Mid-Autumn Festival is the day for family gathering, however many elderly people in Hong Kong refrain from eating mooncakes due to various health issues. Therefore, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) and St. James' Settlement join hands to launch the first ever Warming Mooncake, which is suitable for the elderly and patient with dysphagia, enabling them to enjoy the delight of mooncake tasting alongside with their family and friends.
Towngas invited registered dietitian and chef of St. James' Settlement to design Warming Mooncake in four flavours, green tea with adzuki beans, purple sweet potato with adzuki beans, chocolate sweet potato with egg custard and sweet potato with egg custard. The mooncakes taste thick and creamy like mousse and all ingredients are healthy low-carb food. Total calories of each mooncake is about 105 calories which is equivalent to one-eighth of the traditional mooncake calories; as such, it is suitable for all who pursue for healthy diet.
Warming Mooncake will be available for sale starting from September 18, at Flame at Towngas Avenue and 6 distribution points of St. James Settlement. Warming Mooncake is sold at HK$35 per piece and all proceeds will be donated to St. James Settlement to support their programmes of public education on dysphagia in order to provide more assistance to dysphagia patients..
