Towngas sponsored "Zero food waste @ Campus"
Towngas sponsored an educational programme “Zero food waste @ Campus” organised by Greeners Action. More than 10,000 students from more than 10 primary schools actively took part in this programme. Through a variety of activities, we educated students to cherish food and develop the habit of minimising food waste, and learn how to turn food waste into nutrients for plants.
The ambassador for the programme “Big Food Waster” visited the schools to have quizzes with students and conduct spot checks. To encourage students to put the habit of reducing food waste into practice and eat up their lunch, we presented small gifts and certificates to the students who achieved their goals before the deadline. In addition, we installed food waste recycling system in the schools to teach teachers and students to turn food waste into organic fertilizers which can be used in school gardens. The plants and vegetables produced from school gardens will be distributed to teachers and students to arouse their interest on planting.
