Low Carbon Rice Dumpling Design Competition is now open for Application
Towngas has joined hands with U Magazine to organise the Low Carbon Rice Dumpling Recipe Design Competition to encourage culinary creativity and promote low carbon concepts to celebrate the coming Dragon Boat Festival.
Application Submission:
- Email your application to umcs1@hket.com on or before 31 May with your name, contact number, original low carbon rice dumpling recipe and pictures of the final product.
- Please clearly indicate portions of ingredients and detailed description of cooking steps in your recipe.
Judging Criteria:
The low carbon rice dumpling recipe should be original and creative as well as under the four low carbon principals:
"Locally produced ingredients": To minimise the greenhouse gas emissions released during the food transportation.
"More vegetables and less meat": To reduce meat ingredients such as beef and lamb, consume more vegetables, fruit or seafood.
"Seasonably available ingredients": To consume more seasonal food.
"Right meal portion": Optimised your meal portion to avoid food wastage.

Furthermore, 20 contestants who have submitted the best low carbon rice dumpling recipe will be invited to join our Low Carbon Rice Dumpling Cooking Demonstration Class held at Towngas Cooking Center on 5 June. Famous artist Kitty Yuen will also make appearance on the occasion. Contestants can bring one friend or relative to join the event.
*The organisers' decision shall be final and contestants are not to appeal such decision. The organisers own the copyrights of all submitted recipes.
