- Achieving environmental sustainability requires the contribution and effort of everyone concerned. We engage in ongoing dialogues with stakeholders in order to understand their expectations of Towngas and encourage them to maximise their environmental initiatives.

Our key stakeholders include employees, investors, contractors and suppliers, customers as well as professional bodies and regulators.
Employees
Through our Green Ambassador Club, our Green Ambassadors promote environmental awareness across the Group and among our employees. We also put a wide range of awareness enhancement programmes into practice, including an HSE Day, eco tours, talks and seminars, tree planting activities, as well as HSE Bulletins and publications. A number of incentive programmes, including our HSE Suggestion Scheme, Green Creativity Fund and Annual Outstanding Environmental Subcommittee Award, also encourage the development and implementation of environmental initiatives and solutions among our staff.
To instill a green culture and positive spirit among the staff via experiential learning and farming, we have launched the organic farming in Yuen Long and rooftop farming programme in our Headquarters. The crops are collected for donation to the needy through local non-governmental organisations. So far, we have donated more than 15,000 catties of crops, which benefit to more than 30,000 people in more than 50 charitable organisations.
Contractors and Suppliers
We publish an environmental handbook on our environmental practices, which is distributed to all contractors. Also ensuring that their environmental performance will work in parallel with our own initiatives, we organise training programmes tailored to our own network and installation practices. Working in partnership, a Dealer & Contractor Green Ambassadors Club also promotes knowledge of environmental protection. Creating an international standard for our contractors, ISO 14001 certification is a preferred criterion in their selection. This move has motivated a number of our contractors to acquire this certification.
Customers
Our implementation of bimonthly billing and e-billing services not only saves about a hundred tonnes of paper a year, it also reduces associated printing costs and postage. Energy-saving tips are available to town gas users at our customer centres, on Facebook Fanspage and a mini website together with a carbon footprint calculator that promotes a low-carbon lifestyle.
