Towngas supports Senior Citizen Card Scheme 30th Anniversary Concession Week and Elderly Day with special 10% discount
(18 September 2024) To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Senior Citizen Card Scheme, the Social Welfare Department will hold a special concession week from 20 to 26 September. Towngas is also participating by offering a week-long discount for senior citizens.
During this period, senior citizens aged 65 or above can enjoy a 10% discount on regular-priced gas appliances and household items at any TGC Towngas Customer Centre across Hong Kong (see attached list for locations). To receive the discount, customers need only present a valid Senior Citizen Card. Additionally, gas appliance purchases are eligible for a 10-month interest-free instalment plan. Towngas will extend the same offer on 17 November 2024, in support of Senior Citizens Day 2024.
For many years, Towngas has been supporting the elderly through various initiatives. Since 1995, the Company has offered the “Towngas Concession Scheme for the Elderly”, providing eligible senior citizens with a 50% discount on their first 500 megajoules of gas consumption each month, along with waived maintenance fees and parts costs. Under this scheme, the standard gas tariff paid by beneficiaries remains at the 2008 level, unchanged for 16 years.
Furthermore, the Company has donated 10,000 sets of smart controllers and smart gas meters to families in need, leveraging technology to enhance home safety for the elderly.
