Towngas Fosters Social Harmony through Mooncake Production

Towngas is dedicated to serving the community and enhancing the well-being of the underprivileged. Knowing that the 2008 Paralympic Games would take place during the Mid-Autumn Festival, Towngas co-organised a training programme cum competition on cooking in conjunction with the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (NAAC)'s Community University for the Disabled. The programme is aimed at reinforcing the values of social harmony and integration as the fundamental building blocks of a caring community, as well as encouraging people to take care of their families and those in need.

The programme set off with a mooncake production workshop, where students from the NAAC's Community University for the Disabled learned to make heart-shaped mooncakes as a token of support for the Paralympic Games athletes. The event was joined by several Hong Kong representatives to the Games, including So Wa-wai, Fan Pui-shan and Yu Chun-lai, to whom the students excitedly presented the mooncakes they just learned to make and gave their blessings.

The four-month training programme consists of a series of cooking courses, as well as two rounds of contests where participants can demonstrate their culinary skills.
