Towngas supports Partnership for Sustainability Leadership in Business programme

In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and in response to the challenges posed by climate change, resource shortage, social issues and consumer expectations, corporates are increasingly stepping up to do their part for global sustainable development. The Centre for Civil Society and Governance of The University of Hong Kong launched the region’s first four-year action research programme “Partnership for Sustainability Leadership in Business” (PSLB). Through knowledge transfer, capacity building and network development, the programme aims to build a collaborative ecosystem to tackle the challenges leveraging the collaboration among academic institutions, businesses, regulators and the community at large.

The Sustainable Value Chains (SVC) Commitment and SMEs Sustainability Leadership Recognition Scheme, which connect large corporates and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and provide capacity building resources to co-create SVC in Hong Kong and the region, were officially launched on 11 June 2021. Mr Victor Kwong Chiu-ling, General Manager - Corporate Sustainability of Towngas, joined representatives from other companies including Nan Fung Group, Starbucks Asia Pacific and Rosewood Hotel Group at the schemes launch ceremony as the first batch of sustainability leaders. They shared ways that corporates can integrate sustainability principles and best practices into their business in order to lower risks and seize opportunities for development in the region.

Towngas also nominated two of its SME partners to take part in the scheme with a view to building a more resilient value chain. The first stage of the scheme spans a period of six months. Stay tuned for results and the list of awardees to be announced in early 2022.
