Towngas wins Hang Seng Pearl River Delta Environmental Grand Awards – Silver Award
Outshining 188 entrants and a total of 672 environmental projects, Towngas received the “Hang Seng Pearl River Delta Environmental Grand Awards - Silver Award”. Jointly organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Hang Seng Bank, the award presentation ceremony was held on 4 February 2013
Our winning environmental achievements included the “Cool Kitchen 4 Treasures”series, a range of four essential cooking items tailored to meet the needs of our industrial and commercial customers. Using patented heat recovery techniques to enhance their heating efficiencies, they help to save energy while also making kitchens cooler as the heat is recaptured and utilised rather than being released into the surroundings.
Improving energy efficiencies in our general operations, we also installed a waste heat recovery system at our Tai Po Production Plant. Through this Potassium Carbonate regenerative system, waste heat generated in the natural gas heating process is captured and re-used, thus reducing the use of naphtha which cuts carbon emissions by 2,400 tonnes annually. Additionally, we replaced our lighting systems with more energy efficient and durable induction lamps at our warehouse in Tuen Mun, which has also saved electricity and resulted in less carbon emissions.
