Towngas donates HK$3M worth of anti-epidemic supplies to grassroots families and elderly in need

In efforts to combat the COVID-19 epidemic in Hong Kong, Towngas rolled out the Credit Period Extension Scheme for the Catering Industry and sponsored the building of gas pipelines for the makeshift hospital at the Lok Ma Chau Loop area, so that all the operators from the catering industry, frontline medical workers and those who have to be isolated can be supported in different ways. Towngas also recognises the community’s need for support in dealing with the epidemic and therefore has spent HK$3 million to purchase anti-epidemic supplies so that the best help can be delivered to grassroots families and the socially and economically disadvantaged swiftly.

The dire situation caused panic buying in supermarkets and shops. The grassroots families, who have been feeling the pinch, are particularly vulnerable under such a situation. In light of this, Towngas immediately partnered with the Hong Kong Housing Society and the Christian Family Service Centre to gather 20,000 soup packs and had them, along with supermarket cash coupons, sent to over 10,000 grassroots families.

On the other hand, the epidemic is also disrupting children’s everyday lives and learning, strongly affecting their development. While all the school students are now having an unusually early summer holiday, they also are in need of support. Towngas recognised this need and swiftly prepared 1,000 “back-to-school gift packs” for children, including stationery and educational toys. We hope that with this gesture, the children will feel less lonely during this epidemic period, and at the same time, will be able to continue learning and having fun, preparing for a healthy body and mind to get back to school when the situation allows.
