Towngas’ smart products debut at Link Sustainability Lab, showcasing their capabilities to enhance home safety for seniors with IoT

(3 December 2023) In order to enhance the overall safety of customers’ homes, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) has developed the Smart Water Heater, Smart Controller and Smart Meter with Internet of Things (IoT) technology to provide a range of advanced safety features. The trio of smart devices is currently being exhibited at the Link Sustainability Lab at Lok Fu Place, showcasing how smart technology can create an age-friendly living space.

For the first time, Towngas is participating in an exhibition at the Link Sustainability Lab, showcasing three self-developed smart products in the “Smart Living with Gerontechnology” area of the all-new “Differently Together” thematic exhibition. Visitors can experience how gerontechnology makes the homes of the elderly safer and more comfortable. One of the highlights is the newly launched Smart Water Heater with IoT technology that allows users to remotely control, adjust the water temperature, and monitor daily gas and water usage through their smartphones, bringing added safety and convenience to users.

In addition, the Smart Controller and Smart Meter are also equipped with IoT technology. The Smart Controller can be connected to the user’s existing cooking stove, allowing them to monitor its status through their smartphones. It supports remote emergency shut-off and can simultaneously connect with up to eight smart devices, providing convenience for both the elderly and carers while alleviating carer stress. As for the Smart Meter, it has an automatic meter reading function, eliminating the need for the elderly to manually take readings. When abnormal usage or leaks are detected, the Smart Meter can automatically cut off the gas supply, bringing further peace of mind to the elderly and their carers.

The exhibition will run from now until 31 May 2024.
