Towngas is listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific) for the first time. Launched in 1999, the DJSI are the first global sustainability benchmarks and track the stock performance of the world’s leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria. The DJSI Asia Pacific was introduced in 2009 to measure the performance of Asia-Pacific sustainability leaders as identified by S&P Global through the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).
Towngas scored 67 (out of 100) in the 2022 S&P Global CSA, reflecting an improvement of 16 points (30%) over the last year. The S&P Global ESG Scores measure companies’ exposure to and performance on key environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities, the quality and completeness of public disclosures, and awareness of emerging but underreported ESG issues.
The improvement recognised Towngas’ strong and continuous commitment to ESG issues. Regarding the Environment area, Towngas’ robust decarbonisation strategy not only focuses on the risks associated with a changing climate, but also identifies and seizes business opportunities linked to this global challenge. Towngas has been investing in smart energy projects, waste-to-energy projects and more to enhance business sustainability and support carbon neutrality.
Towngas also attained strong scores in the social dimension. We continue focusing on developing a sustainable talent pipeline, maintaining a high safety standard, providing innovative products and services to our customers and supporting the community. In the Governance and Economic aspect, Towngas’ Code of Conduct ensures that our staff and business partners behave ethically at all times. We also manage supply chain risks to build a reliable supply chain.
