Towngas Trenchless Technology Won Safety Technological Achievement Award
Towngas has won the Safety Technological Achievement Award of the Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Award organised by the Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Council.
Towngas trenchless technology eliminates the need for massive excavation and helps minimize the potential safety hazards posed by traditional open trench excavation works, such as trench collapses, flooding, potential damages to underground power cables resulting in explosion or fire, passengers falling into the trench resulting in injuries or death, health hazards caused to workers through the inhaling of pollutants etc. Less excavation also means reduction of noise and air pollution. Furthermore, trenchless technology can also shorten construction time. For example, it takes just two days and two nights to install a pipe 100 meters in length, compared to three weeks needed previously when traditional methods were employed. Shortening construction time also means minimizing disturbances to the traffic and the avoidance of traffic accidents. All these combine to safeguard the health and safety of both the workers and members of the public.
