Towngas × B.Duck themed public transport hit the road to promote Towngas Green Flame Future Lab and green knowledge
(12 October 2023) Public vehicles featuring The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) and the popular local original character B.Duck will make their debut tomorrow! Two specially designed buses, adorned with charming B.Duck graphics, are not only now cruising the streets and ready to transport passengers, but also extending a warm invitation to everyone to join in the Towngas Green Flame Future Lab at Central Market on 11 and 12 November to learn about energy science through edutainment activities. Moreover, the bus exteriors also showcase environmental messages about Towngas, raising public awareness about the Company’s ongoing journey towards a low-carbon future.
Two themed buses are now in service, namely the Citybus Route 2, shuttling between Grand Promenade in Sai Wan Ho and the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in Central, and the Citybus Route 104, connecting the Kennedy Town to Pak Tin Estate in Sham Shui Po. Showcasing a lively and captivating design, our Towngas Green Flame Ambassador B.Duck assumes the roles of both a Towngas engineer and a laboratory researcher and extending an invitation to all to embark on an exciting journey at the Towngas Green Flame Future Lab. In this event, families can enjoy interactive exhibitions, engage in STEAM workshops, and take part in heritage tours. Participants can also complete specific activities for a chance to win limited-edition Towngas × B.Duck merchandise!
Towngas has always placed a strong emphasis on environmental protection and is dedicated to transforming into a leading low-carbon energy provider. Its efforts include its current practice of not using coal as a feedstock in gas production and preparing the extraction of hydrogen directly from the gas network, providing Hong Kong with an efficient and safe hydrogen supply. Through the themed buses, Towngas takes the chance to educate the public about its current production of town gas, of which half of its composition is hydrogen. Extracting hydrogen from town gas has promising potential for future use in powering hydrogen buses, promoting a low-carbon economy.
The two themed buses will traverse the streets from tomorrow until 13 November. Apart from that, Towngas and B.Duck have also joined forces to bring a unique themed tram on the roads. From 24 October to 13 November, this specially designed tram will be gliding through the streets of Hong Kong Island. The two themed buses operate on Citybus Route 2 and Citybus Route 104 respectively. Towngas will utilise the bus exteriors to introduce its carbon reduction efforts to the public, including its ongoing preparations to extract hydrogen from town gas to provide Hong Kong with an efficient and safe hydrogen supply.

The themed tram curated by Towngas and B.Duck will make its debut on 24 October. B.Duck takes on the role of laboratory researcher in the tram advertisements, inviting the public to participate in a series of edutainment activities at the Towngas Green Flame Future Lab.
