Towngas provides internship opportunities for local tertiary students to receive training on the Chinese mainland

(13 March 2023) As part of its ongoing efforts to nurture young talents, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) announced today that it would continue to support and participate in the Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas. The Company will provide 18 internship positions covering various departments, allowing Hong Kong tertiary students with different expertise to receive training at the Group’s business units on the Chinese mainland.

The Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas was launched by the HKSAR Government with the support of a number of local enterprises. The vacancies offered by Towngas for the Scheme this year cover departments such as engineering, accounting, marketing and information technology, and are suitable for tertiary students from a wide range of disciplines and with different experiences. The internship will last eight weeks, and successful candidates will work in Shenzhen, Zhongshan or Suzhou. Towngas will provide a wide range of training activities for participating interns, including orientation programmes, professional knowledge and skills training, as well as debriefing sessions on internship achievements.

Ms Fan Kit-yee, the Head of Corporate Human Resources of Towngas, said that the Company actively invests in nurturing young talents and provides various training opportunities to facilitate the career development of young people. “This is the third year for Towngas to participate in the Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas, and we have so far provided internship opportunities and training to nearly 50 students. The Scheme is designed to provide more buffering space for young interns and better prepare them for their upcoming working life.”

Ms Fan added, “With over 600 projects in 28 provincial regions and cities across the country, the Group’s diversified businesses can provide tertiary students with a wide range of internship opportunities and an early opportunity to gain valuable experience working and living on the mainland. They can also learn about the latest developments of Towngas in the Greater China region.”

Towngas will cover the major expenses for the interns, including air tickets and accommodation, and will assign dedicated staff to provide them with training and support. Ms Fan encouraged eligible tertiary students to participate in the Scheme to become Towngas summer interns and enrich their learning experience and exposure.
