Towngas and HKHS host hybrid party to celebrate Parents’ Day with over 440 seniors
(18 June 2023) The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) and the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) recently co-hosted an online and offline hybrid Parent’s Day party for more than 440 seniors from 14 HKHS rental estates, elderly housing projects and residential care homes for the elderly, in order to celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with them and send them warm blessings.
Ahead of Father’s Day, Towngas and the HKHS organised the “Care for Parents” party at the multi-purpose hall of Cheerful Court, an HKHS Senior Citizen Residences Scheme project in Ngau Tau Kok, on 3 June. The elderly from other districts were also able to join the festivity online.
The party featured various activities, including a trivia quiz, as well as a performance from celebrity volunteers and artistes Lawrence Lau Shek-yin and Edith Au Hoi-ling, who sang a number of classic songs and led more than 440 online and offline participants in a sing-along, with volunteers and seniors alike joining in. At the end of the party, the organisers presented a Parents’ Day gift pack to each parent, offering sincere wishes and gratitude to them.
It has been 24 years since the Towngas Volunteer Service Team was established in 1999. Over the years, the Team has accumulated more than one million service hours, during which time it has spread love and care to people from all walks of life through various activities, promoting social harmony in the process. Towngas and the HKHS started organising the annual Parents’ Day party together in 2021, delivering the festive and joyful atmosphere of the holiday to the elderly in different districts through online and offline channels.
