Towngas Street Art x Pit Cover Design Contest
Using art to beautify pit covers on the street is a growing trend in many cities around the world. Towngas is taking the lead, bringing this unique street art to Hong Kong with the organisation of Towngas Street Art x Pit Cover Design Contest.
The Contest provides a creative platform for the people of Hong Kong to decorate Towngas pit covers with vivid colours and graphics. The resulting artwork will provide a new and unique form of street art.
The winning designs may have the opportunity to be made into real Towngas pit covers and installed across the territory. So hurry - you can create your own art for the streets of Hong Kong!
Design Themes
Participants can choose one of the following themes for submission:
1. Hong Kong Story
Towngas has grown together with Hong Kong over the years. Tell us how you have walked your own pathway and grown with Hong Kong!
2. Warmth, Laughter and Joy
We invite you to share your warmest and funniest moments with colourful and inspirational graphics.
3. Low Carbon Footprint
Show us your own ideas for low carbon living in Hong Kong. In 2009, we launched our own “Low Carbon Action!” campaign. To learn more about this campaign, and perhaps find some design inspiration, please visit www.lowcarbonaction.com.
Eligibility
All applicants must be residents of Hong Kong and only ONE submission is allowed by each applicant. We do not accept collective submissions, just designs from one individual.
Contest Categories
Primary Student Group – Participants must possess valid proof of identity as a primary student (eg student card or student handbook) for verification.
Secondary Student Group – Participants must possess valid proof of identity as a secondary student (eg student card or student handbook) for verification.
Open Group

Champion: HK$10,000 and a certificate
1st Runner-up: HK$5,000 and a certificate
2nd Runner-up: HK$3,000 and a certificate
Most Supportive School Award: Trophy
Open Group
Champion: HK$20,000 and a certificate
1st Runner-up: HK$10,000 and a certificate
2nd Runner-up: HK$8,000 and a certificate

Judging Criteria
Submissions will be judged using three main criteria, as follows:
Theme/Message Communication (40%)
Creativity (30%)
Attractiveness (30%)
Requirements & Tips
Each participant is allowed to submit one entry only with name of design and a description of no more than 100 words.
Participant can submit hand-painted or computer drawings, in colour or Black & White to join the contest.
Standard size of the Pit Cover layout is 160mm(W) x 238mm(L)
The design must incorporate an oval-shaped key hole in the centre.
The words “煤氣” AND ”GAS” must be included in the design. No restrictions on font size but the words have to be clear and easy to read.
Submission in digital format should be a JPEG file not less than 1MB and not larger than 4MB.
