Elderly singleton/Elderly couple

Qualified Applicants

  • Registered Towngas account holder
  • 60 years of age or over
  • Living alone or with other eligible seniors*
  • Qualifies for the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme**
*Applicants must provide the following documents as residential proof: tenancy agreement (residential proof of public rental housing) or certification letter issued by landlord
**According to the section pertaining to the elderly of “A Guide to Comprehensive Social Security Assistance”. Applicants not receiving CSSA must provide bank statement/record of at least one year.
 

Benefits offered

  • 50% discount on the first 500MJ (around 10.4 units) of gas consumed
  • Waiver of security deposit
  • Waiver of monthly maintenance charge
  • Waiver of monthly initial charge
  • Free appliances maintenance service (Limited to appliances distributed by Towngas)
  • Priority for maintenance service appointments, and
  • Annual safety inspection of gas appliances and installations

Application Procedures

Application forms are available at the Social Welfare Department's Senior Citizen Card Office, multi-service centres and elderly centres as well as here for download (Chinese version only). Applicants should bring along the completed application form and necessary documents assessment centres. Towngas reserves the right to the final decision on the application. Applicants will be notified by letter of their successful applications.

Upon relocation of beneficiaries of the Towngas Concession Scheme for the Elderly, offers applicable to the existing address will be cancelled. Beneficiaries can reapply for the relevant offer at any supporting centre. Applicants should notify Towngas of any changes to their reported information as soon as possible. Towngas regularly reviews accepted applications and reserves the right to terminate the relevant offers based on the latest information.

People with Disabilities

Qualified Applicants

  • Registered Towngas account holder
  • Receiving, or living with a direct family member who is receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA), and is classified as "100% Disabled" or "Requiring Constant Attendance" under CSSA

Benefits offered

  • 50% discount on the first 500MJ (around 10.4 units) of gas consumed
  • Waiver of monthly maintenance charge
  • Waiver of monthly initial charge
  • Waiver of security deposit**
  • Free appliances maintenance service (Limited to appliances distributed by Towngas)
  • Priority for maintenance service appointments, and
  • Annual safety inspection of gas appliances and installations

*effective from 1 April 2010

** Waiver of security deposit only applies to applicants who have not received a deposit subsidy from Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA).

Application Procedures

  • Application forms are available at designated assessment centres. You can also click here to download the application form (Chinese version only).
  • Applicants can submit their completed application form together with the required documents directly to these assessment centres.
  • The applications are forwarded to Towngas for processing and approval. Successful applicants will be notified by letter.
  • Upon relocation of beneficiaries of the Towngas Concession Scheme for People with Disabilities, offers applicable to the existing address will be cancelled. Beneficiaries can reapply for the relevant offer at any supporting centre. Applicants should notify Towngas of any changes to their reported information as soon as possible. Towngas regularly reviews accepted applications and reserves the right to terminate the relevant offers based on the latest information.  

The concession period is valid for ten years. Applicants should renew their application before the concession expire if they wish to continue the scheme.

Single-parent Families

Qualified Applicants

  1. Registered Towngas account holder
  2. Single-parent family households receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) under the single-parent category

  • Waiver of monthly maintenance charge

  • Waiver of security deposit*
  • Free appliances maintenance service (Limited to appliances distributed by Towngas)
** Waiver of security deposit only applies to applicants who have not received a deposit subsidy from Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA). When the offer is no longer valid, applicants are required to submit security deposit if they continue to use our gas service. 

Application Procedures

  • Applicants should complete the application form and return it to one of the assessment centres.
  • When submitting their application forms, applicants should bring along with:
    a) their Hong Kong Identity Cards
    b) the required supporting document issued by Social Welfare Department, and
    c) their latest Towngas bill statements
  • Towngas reserves the right to make the final decision on the application. Applicants will be notified by letter of their successful applications.

The concession period is valid for two years. Applicants should renew their applications before the concession expire if they wish to continue the scheme.

Low Income Families

Qualified Applicants

  1. Registered Towngas account holder
  2. Applicant should be Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipient.
  3. Applicant or his/her family member has a regular job income which is taken into account in the assessment of CSSA entitlement. (The "Notification of Successful Application" or "Notification of Revision of Assistance" bears the item of "LESS NET EARNINGS" indicated in two consecutive months of the CSSA payment period.)
