In response to the Strive and Rise Programme organised by the HKSAR Government, Towngas has been actively involved as a supporting organisation. The Company hosted the first Towngas Green Day on 11 March, inviting mentees and mentors participating in the Programme to visit the Towngas headquarters and the Tai Po Gas Production Plant to learn more about the development of energy services and clean energy.
In addition to visiting the Towngas headquarters and learning about the Company’s efforts in Hong Kong over the past 160 years, the mentees and mentors also visited the Hall of Innovation and the Hall of Future Energy in the headquarters building to find out about the innovative equipment and technologies developed by Towngas staff, as well as the Company’s application and vision for renewable energy and energy management projects.
To enhance interaction, the Company prepared a problem-solving game and a virtual reality (VR) game to raise awareness of gas safety and engineering by allowing mentors and mentees to take on the role of a special task force to assist customers in solving their problems.
Towngas also arranged a visit to the Tai Po Gas Production Plant for mentees and mentors to tour the natural gas receiving station and the latest hydrogen extraction facility, allowing them to learn more about gas production, hydrogen production and hydrogen supply technology.
The Towngas Green Day kicked off the Company’s participation in the Strive and Rise Programme, with two more “Towngas Green Days” to be held in May and July. The Company is looking forward to reaching out to more young people and helping them “strive and rise”.
