Founded in 1862, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) is the first public utility and one of the largest energy suppliers in Hong Kong, operating with world-class corporate management and business practices. For the past 140 years, Towngas has been growing with Hong Kong, from a gas company supplying fuel for street lamps to being the leader in the gas industry providing uninterrupted gas supply for the residential and commercial sectors throughout the territory.

Towngas' core business in Hong Kong comprises of the production and distribution of gas, marketing of gas, the sale of gas appliances, as well as comprehensive after-sales services. With more than 3,400 km-long of pipeline network, the Company supplies town gas to over 1.6 million customers in the territory. In recent years, Towngas has diversified its business into telecommunication, building service engineering, new eco-energy exploration and utilisation, etc.

In mainland China, Towngas has commenced gas business since 1994. At present, we have more than 90 projects in the country, including piped city-gas projects, natural gas upstream and midstream projects, water supply and wastewater treatment, natural gas filling stations, as well as new eco-energy projects.
