U-Tech - The one-stop shop utility services provider

Its investment in automation and advanced tooling, together with the backing of Towngas' expertise and reputation, has made U-Tech a name to be reckoned with as a one-stop-shop utility services provider.

U-Tech seeks to benefit from strong environmental imperatives to reduce open-cut trenching and the environmental impacts of pipeline construction. Its commitment to completing work quickly and with the minimum of disturbance, has resulted in its positioning itself as a major player in trenchless engineering.

U-Tech adds value in terms of cost and efficiency of site supervision for main contractors and is positioned to take a leading role in the refurbishment and replacement of Hong Kong's outdated infrastructure. There are extended business opportunities in Southeast Asia and Greater China where U-Tech's quality and expertise can be expected to match the profile of emerging demand.

What exactly is "trenchless technology"?

Channels can now be dug underground and pipes threaded through, significantly reducing the need for open excavation. This results in less disturbance and damage to the surrounding land, roads and environment, less construction noise and dust, less waste disposal, less pedestrian and traffic congestion, reduced emissions from lorries and the operation of on-site equipment, and a lower consumption of fossil fuels.

Different trenchless technologies are available to meet specific needs, namely swagelining, pipe insertion, pipe ramming, pipe jacking, pipe bursting, horizontal directional drilling, the use of a tunnel boring machine and so on.
