What exactly is "trenchless
technology"?
 |
Channels can now be dug underground
and pipes threaded through, significantly reducing
the need for open excavation. This results in less
disturbance and damage to the surrounding land,
roads and environment, less construction noise and
dust, less waste disposal, less pedestrian and traffic
congestion, reduced emissions from lorries and the
operation of on-site equipment, and a lower consumption
of fossil fuels. |
Different trenchless technologies
are available to meet specific
needs, namely swagelining, pipe
insertion, pipe ramming, pipe
jacking, pipe bursting, horizontal
directional drilling, the use
of a tunnel boring machine and
so on. |
