The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) is firmly committed to environmental protection by making our gas production process cleaner and environmentally friendly.

In the 1970s we began using low-sulphur naphtha instead of coal and heavy oil as feedstock to produce town gas. Beginning in 2006, we introduced natural gas as feedstock in addition to naphtha, bringing further environmental and economic benefits to our customers.

Towngas developed a Gas Receiver Station (GRS) at Tai Po Plant, receiving natural gas transmitted to Hong Kong from Shenzhen.
